Abstract

Over the last decade, the open science movement has become increasingly important due to concerns about research transparency, reproducibility, and integrity. Scientists and scholarly journals are adopting practices such as publicly sharing hypotheses and data to improve the quality and trustworthiness of research. As students and aspiring scientists, we are the future of this movement. Contributing to the improvement of global scientific practices will be essential for both our careers and the future of science. However, good intentions alone are not enough. Engaging with open science requires that we learn new skills and new methodological and conceptual content, which can feel overwhelming. This workshop aims to ease us into the open science framework by introducing its core principles and practices that we can already engage with as students. After the introduction, we will play an interactive open science board game and hopefully have fun learning about and discussing open science concepts.
